Reports furnished by the Division of Information of the department show that, in October, 1,104 applications for help were received. The number of positions open was 5,423. In September the corresponding figures were 1,204 and 4,551, respectively. The list of branch employment offices reported varies from month. to month; only those which report having received applications or assisted in securing employment are included in the list reported for the month.
