Boston Ss: At a Meeting of the Selectmen Jan. 3d 1787 Present Mess. Scollay, Andrews Dorr, Tyler, Grant, Walley, Price,

ORDERED, that the Assize of Bread be set at Wheat at 6/6 p Bushel, and that twelve Pence p Bushel, be allowed to the Bakers for their Charges Pains & Livelihood which is computed as follows -Vizt.

Deacon Mead upon his application has liberty from the Selectmen to make Brick upon the Towns Land [35.] on the Neck, being that part leased to Deacon Davis & others provided the Lessees have no objection, and that the Ground is made good to the satisfaction of the Selectmen but if the Inhabitants should have any material objections, the works are to be suspended — The Selectmen recommend to the several Masters of the public Schools, that they make their respective Scholars acquainted with the By Laws forbidding to throw Snow Balls and play Foot Balls in the Street and any other of those Laws that concern their Scholars;

The Selectmen are requested by Col. May to make the necessary provision for the 90 Men detailed from the Boston Regiment to join the Forces under the Command of Maj. General Lincoln, ordered to take the Field

One good strong Sled with high sides & covered at top to be drawn by four good able Horses & to have a Driver to continue in the service of the two Boston Companies 34 Days from the 19. Inst. unless sooner discharged —

19 Camp Kettles & 19 Tin Pans that will hold a Gallon for the use of the Officers & Men

A number of the Town Bakers attended as requested by the Selectmen when they were forbid by the Selectmen to suffer their boys with Barrows & to come on Market Square.

Upon another requisition — Agreed with Benjamin Trask to provide a Sled, Driver, & 3 Horses to be in the service 34 Days from the 19. of Jan'. Ins'. unless sooner discharged for which he is to receive seventeen Shillings, p Day, and to be paid by an Order on the Town Treasurer Mem. the Sled is to have high sides, and to be covered as a security from the Weather –

Mr. Elizabeth Wolcut approved of for a License as a Retailer at her Shop in Ann Street

The Selectmen direct M'. Nazro Clerk of the Market, that if any Bakers boys come with their Barrows upon the Market Square to inquire the Name & call upon Justice Greanleaff that they may be proceeded with as the Law directs

Capt. Witherles Receipt for Supplies for his Company placed on the Files of mix'd Papers —

Whereas Mr. Scollay had it in order sometime since to agree with Mr. Farrington for the ground Rent of the Land whereon his Store stands, now makes Report that he had agreed with said Farrington for Fifteen Pounds for one Year ending next, February and the Town Treasurer is to be informed thereof accordingly

Mr. William Martin recommended by the Selectmen in a Certificate delivered him as a Person of good Character & like to make a good Citizen of this Commonwealth - Passed upon other Accounts

The Committee appointed to treat with M'. Tuckerman relative to the Towns Land improved by him, & adjoining his Estate Report that by an enquiry they apprehend the same to be worth thirty Shillings which he was willing to give & no more which Report is accepted, & the Selectmen agree that he have the same for said thirty Shillings for every foot in front

The Selectmen had a conference with M'. Woodward, relative to the Incroachments made by him on Olivers Dock —
