also for the custody and guardianship of their child, Charles Wallace Miller, for causes set forth in said petition on file:

Resolved by this Assembly, That Lucena Miller, of New Haven, be, and she hereby is divorced from John Miller, of said New Haven.

Resolved also, That the custody and guardianship of Charles Wallace Miller, the child of said parties, be given to and conferred on said Lucena Miller, and that she be the guardian of said Charles Wallace.

Resolved further, That the name of the said Lucena Miller is hereby changed and her maiden name of Lucena Thompson is hereby restored to her, by which latter name she shall be hereafter known and called.

EDWARD PAYNE FROM HANNAH PAYNE.

Upon the petition of Edward Payne, representing to this Assembly, that he was lawfully married to Hannah Payne, on the 24th day of December, 1844, and alleging that the said Hannah Payne, at various times since said marriage, has indulged in such criminal misconduct as amounts to the crime of adultery as nearly as could be without the actual perpetration of the crime; and praying for a divorce, as per petition on file :-this Assembly finds that the said Hannah Payne has been duly notified of the pendency of said petition, and that the allegations in said petition are true; it is therefore

Resolved by this Assembly, That the said Edward Payne be, and he hereby is divorced from his said wife, the said Hannah Payne; and he is hereby released and absolved from all obligations, by virtue of said marriage.

SYRENA RAYMOND FROM FRANCIS G. RAYMOND.

Upon the petition of Syrena Raymond, of Ridgefield, in the county of Fairfield, praying for a divorce from her husband, Francis G. Raymond, for abusive treatment and alienation of affection, as per petition on file, dated the 25th day of April, 1849,—and for a change of name :—

Resolved, That the marriage relation heretofore subsisting between the said Syrena Raymond and Francis G. Raymond, is hereby dissolved, and the said Syrena is released from all obligations imposed by virtue of said marriage contract, and is hereby declared to be sole, single and unmarried.

Resolved further, That the name of the said Syrena Raymond be, and the same is hereby changed to the name of Syrena Hanford, by which latter name she shall hereafter be known and called.

MARY ARVILLE SQUIERS FROM HIRAM SQUIERS.

Upon the petition of Mary Arville Squiers, of Ellington, in Tolland county, praying for a divorce from her husband, Hiram Squiers, for reasons set forth in said petition, dated April, A. D. 1849, and also for a change of name:—

Resolved by this Assembly, That the marriage relation heretofore subsisting between the said Mary Arville Squiers and the said Hiram, be, and the same is hereby dissolved, and the said Mary Arville is declared to be sole, single and unmarried; and that the maiden name of Mary Arville Snow be, and the same is hereby restored to the said Mary Arville, by which said name of Mary Arville Snow she shall hereafter be known and called.

MARY E. STANNARD FROM ELY STANNARD.

Upon the petition of Mary E. Stannard, praying for a divorce from her husband, Ely Stannard, of Clinton, in the county of Middlesex, for reasons set forth in her petition on file, dated the 23d day of April, A. D. 1849 :

Resolved by this Assembly, That the marriage relation now subsisting between the said Mary E. Stannard and the said Ely Stannard be, and the same is hereby dissolved; and the said Mary E. Stannard is hereby divorced from the said Ely Stannard, and declared to be sole, single and unmarried.

RANSOM STRONG FROM FANNY STRONG.

Upon the petition of Ransom Strong of the town and county of New Haven, praying for a divorce from Fanny Strong, his wife, as by petition on file, dated the 10th day of March, A. D. 1849:

Resolved by this Assembly, That the marriage relation now subsisting between said Ransom Strong and said Fanny Strong be, and the same is hereby dissolved, and that the said Ransom Strong be, and hereby is divorced from his said wife.

ADELIZA WARFIELD FROM RUEL I. WARFIELD.

Upon the petition of Adeliza Warfield, praying for a divorce from her husband, Ruel I. Warfield, for reasons set forth in her petition on file, dated November 23d, 1848 :—

Resolved, That the marriage relation now subsisting between the said Adeliza Warfield and the said Ruel I. Warfield be, and hereby is dissolved; and the said Adeliza Warfield is hereby divorced, discharged and released from all the duties and obligations to the said Ruel I. Warfield, arising out of the marriage relation, and is declared to be single, sole and unmarried.

Resolved, That the said Adeliza Warfield be, and she hereby is appointed sole and legal guardian of Elizabeth Warfield, the minor daughter of the said Adeliza and Ruel I., and all right of the said Ruel I. Warfield to the guardianship, control and service of said Elizabeth is hereby declared to be, and is absolutely and forever at an end.

SIMON WHITE FROM HANNAH M. WHITE.

Upon the petition of Simon White against Hannah M. White, both of Killingly, in this state, praying for a divorce, as per petition on file, dated the 28th day of March, A. D. 1849:

Resolved by this Assembly, That the marriage relation existing between Simon White and Hannah M. White, both of Killingly, in this state, be, and the same is hereby dissolved; and he, the said Simon White, is hereby released and discharged from all obligations arising from said marriage contract, and he is hereby declared to be sole, single and unmarried.

POLLY WHITE FROM BARNICE WHITE.

Upon the petition of Polly White, praying for a divorce from her husband, Barnice White, for reasons set forth in her petition on file, dated April, 1849:

Resolved, That the marriage relation now subsisting between the said Polly White and the said Barnice White be, and the same is hereby dissolved, and the said Polly White is hereby divorced, discharged and released from all the duties and obligations to the said Barnice White arising out of the said marriage contract, and the said Polly White is hereby declared sole, single and unmarried.

Resolved further, That the said Barnice White do pay, and he is hereby ordered to pay, to the said Polly White, as alimony, the sum of five hundred dollars, which said sum of five hundred dollars so ordered to be paid, the said Polly White is hereby authorized to recover by action of debt, or any other proper action brought for that purpose; and that the said sum be and remain a lien and charge upon the estate of the said Barnice White, both real and personal, until paid.

And be it further resolved, That [the] following articles of female wearing apparel and household furniture, which the said Polly White had at the time of her intermarriage with the said Barnice White, and now in the possession of the said Barnice White, be, and the same are hereby assigned to the said Polly White for her own use, and that the title to said property shall be, and the same is hereby absolutely vested in the said Polly White, to wit: two pair leather slippers, eight pairs of cotton and worsted stockings, one silk dress, two cotton and one wool shawls, three night gowns, five aprons, one cloak, four women's skirts and quilts; also, all the household furniture which the said Polly White had at the time she entered into the said marriage contract with the said Barnice White, and which then went into his possession, and is still in his possession ;and that the title to all and singular of the same be and the same hereby are absolutely vested in the said Polly White.
