Mr. Muhlenberg was added to the Committee appointed to superintend the drawing of the lottery for the donation lands, agree-.. ably to the directions of the Act of Assembly passed the twentyfourth day of March, 1785. Timothy Pickering, Esquire, was appointed and commissioned to be Clerk of the Court of General Quarter Sessions of the Peace and Jail Delivery, Clerk of the Orphans' Court, and a Justice of the Court of Common Pleas for the county of Luzerne. The following orders were drawn upon the Treasurer, vizt: In favor of Michael Reinhart, for seventeen pounds four shil linge, for riding express under orders from Council in 1777, and VOL. XV.-7. for a horse lost in said service, according to the Comptroller Gene ral's report. In favor of Captain Israel Moore, for one hundred and thirtysix pounds twelve shillings and four pence, being due to his company of Chester county militia, for their services in September and October, 1781, according to the Comptroller General's report, to be paid out of the militia fines of Chester county. Returus of the general election in the city and county of Phila delphia, Bucks, Chester, Berks and Lancaster, were received and read, by which it appeared that the following gentlemen were duly elected. For the city of Philadelphia: Representatives-Robert Morris, Thomas Fitzsimmons, George Clymer, William Will and Jacob Hiltzheimer. Wardens-Philip Wager and Andrew Bunner. Commissioners for the Streets-Philip Pancake and Peter Ozeas. For the county of Philadelphia: Representatives-Thomas Mifflin, Isaac Gray, William Robin. Sheriffs-William Roberts and Jacob Bennet. Representatives Sheriffs-Ezekiel Leonard and John Davis. For the county of Berks: Representatives Sheriffs-Peter Filbert and Daniel Ludwig. For the county of Lancaster: Representatives-Samuel John Atlee, Alexander Lowry, Joseph Work, Emanuel Carpenter. Sheriffs-John Miller and James Ross. Coroners-John Offner and Andrew Graff. Joseph Copperthwaite, Esquire, was appointed Sheriff, and John Leacock, Coroner, for the city and county of Philadelphia. William Roberts, Esquire, was appointed Sheriff, and Isaac Vanhorn, Coroner, for the county of Bucks. Ezekiel Leonard, Esquire, Sheriff, and John Harper, Coroner, for the county of Chester. Peter Filbert, Esquire, Sheriff and Berks. Coroner for the county of And John Miller, Esquire, Sheriff, and John Offaer, Coroner. for the county of Lancaster. The following gentlemen were offered as sureties for the Sheriffs before appointed and accepted by Council: For Joseph Cowperthwaite, Samuel Miles, Jacob Morgan and William Coats, tanner. For William Roberts, Gerardus Wynkoop and Joseph Jenks. For John Miller, Adam Reigart, and Adam Weaver. Timothy Pickering, Esquire, appearing in Council, the oaths of office were administered to him as Prothonotary of the Court of Common Pleas, Clerk of the General Court of Quarter Sessions of the Peace and Orphans' Court, and a Justice of the Common Pleas for the county of Luzerne. The Council met. PHILADELPHIA, Saturday, October 14th, 1786. PRESENT: The Honorable CHARLES BIDDLE, Esquire, Vice President. Henry Hill Samuel Dean, Peter Muhlenberg, and nd} Esquires. A deed was examined and signed by the Honorable Charles Biddle, Esquire, Vice President, for Martha Willet, for a tract of one hundred and seventy-two acres and one hundred and forty-four perches of land, situate in the township of Southampton, in the county of Bucks, late the estate of Walter Willet, forfeited by his attainder of high treason. Deed dated this day. An order was drawn on the Treasurer in favor of William Rees, for thirteen pounds seventeen shillings and six pence, for the improvement of the State House yard, until the 12th of October instant, inclusively, according to the Comptroller General's report. An order was drawn upon the Treasurer in favor of Benjamin G. Eyres, Esquire, for sixty-six pounds fifteen shillings, in full of his account for ship room for the East Indians, from the 80th of December, 1785, until the 27th of September, 1786, and for firewood and damages sustained, according to the Comptroller General's report. Samuel Dean, Henry Hill, William Brown, John Whitehill, Peter Muhlenberg, and Esquires. Two following orders were drawn upon the Treasurer, vizt: In favor of the Honorable Henry Hill, Esquire, for twenty-one pounds fifteen shillings, in full for his attendance in Council until the thirtieth day of September last. In favor of the Honorable Arthur St. Clair, Esquire, for one hundred and thirty-five pounds, in full for his attendance in Congress until the 8th inst., inclusively. Returns of the General Elections in the counties of Northamp ton, Dauphine, and Montgomery, were presented to Council and read, by which it appeared that the following gentlemen were duly elected. For the county of Northampton: Counsellor Robert Trail. Representatives-Peter Trexler, Jun'r, Thomas Mawhorter, Robart Brown, and Peter Burkholder. Sheriffs-Peter Ealer and Jacob Bachman. Anthony Kelker and Alexander Berryhill. Peter Ealer, Esquire, was appointed and commissionated Sheriff, and Conrad Ihrie, jun'r, Coroner, for the county of Northampton. Zebulon Potts, Sheriff, and Stephen Bloom, Coroner, for the county of Montgomery; and Anthony Kelker, Esquire, Sheriff, and Peter Miller, Coroner, for the county of Dauphine. The following gentlemen were offered as sureties, and approved by Council: For Peter Ealer, Esquire, Jonas Hartzel and Peter Seip, Esquire. For Zebulon Potts, Esquire, Samuel Wheeler, Joseph Tyson, and Henry Pauling. For Anthony Kelker, Esquire, Daniel Bradley, and Christopher Ubler. Upon the petition of Jacob Shupe, of Nockamixon township, in the county of Bucks, an order was taken that the fine to the State imposed upon a certain Joseph Van Flea, upon conviction of passing counterfeit dollars, knowing them to be such, in the said county, be remitted. The Council met. PHILADELPHIA, Tuesday, October 17th, 1786. PRESENT: The Honorable CHARLES BIDDLE, Esquire, Vice President. An order was drawn upon the Treasurer in favor of the Honorable Samuel Dean, Esquire, for fifteen pounds, in full for his attendance in Council untill this day, inclusively. The fine due to the State imposed upon Elizabeth McConnell, upon conviction of retailing spirituous liquors without licence, in the county of Lancaster, was remitted, upon her petition and a recom mendation from the Court.
