Subpart A-General

§ 97.1 Applicability.

This part prescribes standard instr ment approach procedures for instr ment letdown to airports in the Uni States and the weather minimums t apply to takeoffs and landings under at those airports.

§ 97.3 Symbols and terms used in p cedures.

The following symbols and terms pear in standard instrument approa procedures prescribed in this part:

(a) "A" means alternate minimu This applies when the airport is bei used as an alternate airport.

(b) "T" means takeoff minimum.
(c) "C" means circling landing mi

mum.

(d) "S" means straight-in land minimum. The number appearing bel the S indicates the runway to which applies. If a straight-in minimum is¦ prescribed, the circling landing minim applies to a straight-in landing. (e) "d" means day. (f) "n" means night.

(g) "BCOB" means broken clouds better.

(h) "NA" means not authorized. (i) "65 knots or less" means an craft that has a stalling speed (as tablished in an approved flight manu of 65 knots or less at maximum cert cated landing weight with full fis landing gear extended, and power off.

(j) "More than 65 knots" means aircraft that has an approved stall speed (as established in an appro flight manual) of more than 65 knots maximum certificated landing wel with full flaps, landing gear extent and power off.

§ 97.5

Bearings; courses; headings; dials; miles.

(a) All bearings, courses, head and radials in this part are magnetic (b) Unless otherwise stated in part, all mileages in this part are sta as nautical miles.
