CAPITULO IX.

CHAPTER IX.

libre? ¿no he visto á Jesu Cristo el Señor nuestro? ¿no sois vosotros mi obra en el Señor?

2 Si para los otros no soy apóstol, sin embargo para vosotros ciertamente lo soy; porque el sello de mi apostolado vosotros sois en el Señor.

3 Mi respuesta para con los que me preguntan, es esta: 4 & No tenemos potestad de comer y de beber?

5 No tenemos potestad de traer con nosotros aquí y allá una hermana, muger, como tambien los otros apóstoles, y los hermanos del Señor, y Cephas?

6¿0 será que solo yo y Barnabas no tenemos potestad de no trabajar?

7 ¿Quién jamas salió á la guerra á sus propias expensas? ¿Quién planta viña, y no come de su fruto? ¿ó quién apacienta el rebaño, y no come de la leche del rebaño?

8 Digo yo esto como hombre? ¿No dice lo mismo tambien la ley?

9 Porque en la ley de Moyses está escrito: No embozalarás la boca al buey que trilla. ¿Tiene Dios cuidado tan solo de los bueyes?

2 If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.

3 Mine answer to them that do examine me is this: 4 Have we not power to eat and to drink?

5 Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

6 Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?

7 Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?

8 Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?

9 For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?

10 Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that plougheth should plough in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.

11 If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

12 If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we

13 No sabeis que los que ministran en las cosas santas, comen de las cosas del templo? &y los que sirven al altar, con el altar participan?

14 Así tambien ha ordenado el Señor á los que anuncian el Evangelio, que vivan del Evangelio.

15 Mas yo de nada de esto me he aprovechado; ni tampoco he escrito esto para que se haga así conmigo; porque es mejor para mí morir, antes que nadie haga vana mi glorificacion.

16 Porque aunque anuncie el Evangelio, no tengo por qué gloriarme; porque me está impuesta necesidad; y ¡ay de mí, si no anunciare el Evangelio! 17 Por lo cual si hago esto de voluntad, premio tendré; mas si por fuerza, la dispensacion del Evangelio me ha sido encargada.

18¿Qué premio pues tendré ? Cierto, que predicando el Evangelio, ponga el Evangelio de Cristo de balde, por no usar mal de mi potestad en el Evangelio.

19 Por lo cual siendo libre para con todos, me he hecho siervo de todos, por ganar á mas.

20 Me he hecho para los Judios como Judio, por ganar á los Judios; para los que están sujetos á la ley, como sujeto á la ley, por ganar á los que están sujetos á la ley.

21 Para los que están sin ley, como sin ley, (no estando yo sin ley para con Dios, mas bajo la ley para con Cristo,) por ganar á los que estaban sin ley.

22 Me he hecho para los flacos como flaco, por ganar á los fla

13 Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?

14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

15 But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.

16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

17 For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto

me.

18 What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

19 For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;

21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. 22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the

24 No sabeis que los que corren en el estadio, todos corren, mas uno solo lleva el premio? Corred pues de tal manera que le alcanceis.

25 Y todo aquel que se ejercita en la lucha, es sobrio en todo; y aquellos lo hacen para recibir una corona corruptible; mas nosotros, incorruptible.

26 Así que yo de esta manera corro, no como á cosa incierta : de esta manera peleo, no como quien hiere al aire.

27 Antes hiero mi cuerpo, y le pongo en servidumbre; para que predicando á los otros, no sea yo mismo reprobado.

CAPITULO X.

MAS AS no quiero, hermanos, que ignoreis, que nuestros Padres todos estuvieron debajo de la nube, y todos pasaron por la mar;

2 Y todos en Moyses fueron bautizados en la nube y en la mår;

3 Y todos comieron la misma vianda espiritual;

4 Y todos bebieron la misma bebida espiritual; porque bebian de la Roca espiritual que los seguia, la cual Roca era Cristo:

5 Mas de muchos de ellos no se agradó Dios; porque fueron derribados en el desierto.

6 Empero esta cosas fueron tipos para nosotros; á fin de que no codiciemos cosas malas, como ellos codiciaron :

7 Ni seais adoradores de ídolos como eran algunos de ellos, como está escrito: Séntose el

23 And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Sorun, that ye may obtain.

25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

pueblo á comer y á beber, y se levantaron á jugar:

8 Ni forniquemos, como algunos de ellos fornicaron, y cayeron en un dia veinte y tres mil:

9 Ni tentemos á Cristo, como algunos de ellos le tentaron, y perecieron por las serpientes: 10 Ni murmureis, como algunos de ellos murmuraron, y perecieron por el destruidor.

11 Mas todas estas cosas les acontecieron por tipos, y son escritas para nuestra amonestacion, sobre quien los fines de los siglos han llegado.

12 Así que el que se piensa estar firme, mire no caiga.

13 No os ha tomado alguna tentacion, fuera de las que son comunes á los hombres; mas fiel es Dios, que no os dejará ser tentados mas de lo que podeis; ántes dará tambien salida con la tentacion, para que la podais llevar.

Por lo cual, amados mios, huid de la idolatría.

15 Como á sabios hablo, juzgad vosotros lo que digo.

16 La copa de bendicion la cual bendecimos, no es la comunion de la sangre de Cristo? el pan que rompemos, & no es la comunion del cuerpo de Cristo?

17 Porque siendo muchos, somos un solo pan, y un solo cuerpo; porque todos participamos de aquel mismo_pan.

18 Mirad á Israel segun la carne. Los que comen los sacrificios, & no son participantes del altar?

19 & Pues qué digo? ¿Que el ídolo es algo? ¿ó que lo que es sacrificado á los ídolos es algo?

20 Antes, digo que lo que los Gentiles sacrifican, á los demonios lo sacrifican, y no á Dios; y no querria que vosotros fué

11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. 12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. 15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.

16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?

19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?

20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that

21 No podeis beber la copa del Señor, y la copa de los demonios: no podeis ser partícipes de la mesa del Señor, y de la mesa de los demonios.

22 & Provocamos á zelos al Señor? ¿Somos acaso mas fuertes que él?

23 ¶ Todo me es lícito, mas no todo me conviene: todo me es lícito, mas no todo edifica.

24 Ninguno busque lo que es suyo propio; mas cada uno lo que es del otro.

25 De todo lo que se vende en la carnecería, comed sin preguntar nada por causa de la conciencia.

26 Porque del Señor es la tierra, y la plenitud de ella.

27 Si alguno de los que no creen os convida, y quereis ir, de todo lo que se os pone delante, comed, sin preguntar nada por causa de la conciencia.

28 Mas si alguien os dijere: Esto fué sacrificado á los ídolos: no lo comais por causa de aquel que os lo declaró, y por causa de la conciencia; porque del Señor es la tierra, y la plenitud de ella.

29 Conciencia digo, no la tuya, sino la del otro. Pues por qué ha de ser juzgada mi libertad por conciencia de otro?

30 Y si yo por gracia participo, ¿por qué se ha de hablar mal de mí por lo que doy gracias?

31 Si pues comeis, ó si bebeis, ó haceis otra cosa, hacédlo todo á gloria de Dios.

32 Sed sin ofensa á Judios, y á Griegos, y á la Iglesia de Dios:

33 Como tambien yo en todas las cosas agrado á todos: no buscando mi mismo provecho, sino el de muchos, para que ellos sean saivos.

21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. 24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.

25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience' sake:

26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.

27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience' sake.

28 But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience' sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:

29 Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?

30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?

31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mineown profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
