HEREAS it is expedient further to continue an A&t paffed in the thirty fixth year of His Majefty's reign, intituled, " An Act for making a temporary pro vifion for the regulation of Trade between this Province, and the United States of "America by Land or by Inland Navigation." Be it therefore enacted by the King's Moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the advice and confent of the Legislative Coun. cil and Affembly of the Province of Lower Canada, conftituted and affembled by virtue of, and under the authority of an Act of the Parliament of Great Britait intituled, "An Act to repeal certain parts of an Act paffed in the fourteenth "of His Majefty's reign" intituled, " An Act for making more effectual provifion forthe Government of the Province of Quebec, in North America" "and to makefur. Preamble,

of His Majefty's Juftices of the Peace, acting in and for the Parish and Seigniory of Sorel, and fuch other Seigniories and Parishes, as to him shall seem m et, to take cognizance of fuch Caufes and Suits, as in the above in part recited Act are fpecified, and any, or either of them.

II. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, that all Juftices who in manner aforefaid, fhall be authorifed and empowered to take cognizance of fuch Caufes and Suits as aforefaid, under and by virtue of this A&t, and each and every of them, fhall have, hold, exercife and enjoy the fame rights, powers, authorities and jurifdiction, as any Juftice, who is, or are, or fhall be appointed under and by virtue of the above in part recited Act.

III. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, that this Act shall continue, and be in force until the first day of January, which will be in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and ten, and from thence, to the end of the then next Seffion of the Provincial Parliament, and no longer.

IV. Provided always and it is hereby declared and enacted by the authority aforefaid, that nothing herein contained, fhall be construed in any manner, to dero. gate from the rights of the Crown, to erect, conftitute and appoint Courts of Civil or Criminal Jurifdiction, within this Province, and to appoint from time to time the Judges and Officers thereof, as His Majefty, his heirs or fucceffors, shall think neceflary, or proper for the circumftances of this Province, or to derogate from any other Right or Prerogative of the Crown whatfoever.

AN ACT to authorife Jacques Morin, Junior, to build a Bridge over the
River Du Sud, at the fourth range of conceffions, in the Parish of St.
Valier, near the Fall; to fix the rates of Toll for paffing thereon; and
to provide Regulations for the faid Bridge.

WHEREAS the convenience and the facility of intercourfe of the Inhabitants of the adjacent Parishes and conceffions, and of the public in general, would be much promoted by the erection of a Bridge over the River du Sud, at the fourth range of grants of the Parish of St. Valier, near the Fall, in the County of Hert ford And Whereas Jacques Morin, junior, of the faid Parish of Saint Vner, hath, by his Petition in this behalf, prayed leave to build a Toll Bridge, over the
