vation of his Majesty's Government as by Law happily established in this Province,' which Act was to have continuance only until the end of the present Seffion of the Provincial Parliament. And whereas it is expedient that the faid Act should be further continued; Be it therefore enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the advice and confent of the Legislative Council and Affembly of the Province of Lower Canada, constituted and affembled by virtue of and under the A& 43dGeo. III. Cap. 1, continued authority of an Act paffed in the Parliament of Great Britain, intituled, "An Act "to repeal certain parts of an A&t paffed in the fourteenth year of his Majefty's Reign, intituled, " An Act for making more effectual provifion for the Government the war perfons" of the Province of Quebec in North America", and to make further provifion for detainedby virtue the Government of the faid Province;" and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the fame, that the said Act and all matters and things therein contained, fhall continue to be in force until the first day of January one thousand eight hundred and fix, and from thence to the end of the then next Seffion of the Provincial Parliament. Provided always, that after the close of the prefent war, all and every person or perfons committed under the authority of the faid A&t, fhall have the benefit and advantage of the laws relating to or providing for the liberty of the fubject, in this Province.

AN ACT to ratify and confirm the Provifional Articles of Agreement entered into by the refpective Commiffioners of this Province and of Upper Canada, at Montreal, on the fifth day of July, one thoufand eight hundred and four, relative to Duties, and for carrying the fame into effect: and alfo further to continue an Act paffed in the thirty seventh year of his Majesty's Reign.

WHEREAS a provifional Agreement was made and entered into at Montreal, on the fifth day of July in the forty fourth year of your Majefty's Reign, by the Commissioners nominated and appointed on behalf of the Province of Lower Canada, by an Act of the Provincial Parliament thereof, paffed in the forty fourth At 44 Geo. III. year of Your Majefty's Reign, intituled, "An At for appointing Commiffioners to

treat with Commiffioners appointed or to be appointed on the part of Upper Canada, for the purposes therein mentioned," and the Commiffioners nominated and appointed, on behalf of the Province of Upper Canada, by his Excellency Peter Hunter, Efquire, Lieutenant Governor of the faid Province, by Commiffion bearing date the twenty fecond day of March in the forty fourth year of Your Majefty's Reign, in purluance of and under the authority of an A&t paffed in the thirty feventh year of Your Majefty's Reign, intituled, "An Act to authorife the Lieutenant Go vernor to nominate and appoint certain Commiffioners for the purposes therein men

fervation du Gouvernement de Sa Majefté, tel qu'il est heureufement établi par la Loi "en cette Province ;” loquel A&te ne doit être en force que jufqu'à la fin de la préfente Seffion du Parlement Provincial, et vu qu'il eft expédient que le dit Acte foit continué, Qu'il foit donc ftatué par la Très Excellente Majefté du Roi, par et 43. de l'avis et confentement du Confeil Législatif et de l'Affemblée de la Province du Bas Canada, conftitués et assemblés en vertu et fous l'autorité d'un A&e du Parlement de la Grande Bretagne, intitulé," Acte qui rappelle certaines parties d'un "A&te paffé dans la quatorzième Année du Règne de Sa Majefté, intitulé, "Acte qui pourvoit plus efficacement pour le Gouvernement de la Province de Québec dans "l'Amérique Septentrionale;" et qui pourvoit plus amplement pour le Gouvernement "de la dite Province :" Et il eft par le préfent statué par la même autorité, que le dit Acte et toutes matières et chofes y contenues, continueront d'être en force juf qu'au premier jour du Mois de Janvier, Mil huit cent fix, et de là jufqu'à la fin de la Seffion alors prochaine du Parlement Provincial; Pourvu toujours, qu'à la fin de la présente Guerre, toute perfonne ou perfonnes détenues fous l'autorité du fufdit Acte, jouiront de tous les avantages et bénéfices des Loix qui pourvoient ou ont rapport à la liberté des Sujets en cette Province.
