4. Hamilton, residue to remain a town by the name of.-5. Poor how apportioncd. AN ACT to divide the Town of Hamilton, in the County of Madison,

Passed February 6, 1807. I. D E it enacted by the People of the State of New York, reprea 1

D sented in Senate and Atocmbly, That from and after the passing of this act, all that part of the town of Hamilton, known and distinguished as township number three, shall be erected into a separate town by the name of Madison ; and that the first town meeting shall be held at the meeting house of the first congregational society, near the centre of said town. +

II. And be it further enacted, That all that part of the town of 2 Hamilton, known and distinguished as township number two, shall be erected into a separate town, by the name of Eaton ; and that the first town meeting shail be held at the school house, near the centre of said town.

III. And be it further enacted, That all that part of the town of 3 Hamilton, known and distinguished as township number five, shall be erected into a separate town, by the name of Lebanon ; and that the first town meeting shall be held at the school house, near the house of James Campbell, esquire, in said town.

IV. And be it further enacted, That all the remaining part of the 4 said town of Hamilton shall be and remain a separate town, by the name of Hamilton ; and that the first town meeting shall be held at the dwelling house of William Weld, in said town.

V. And be it further enacted, That as soon as may be after the 5 first Tuesday of March next, the supervisors and overseers of the poor of the aforesaid towns shall, by notice to be given for that purpose by the supervisors thereof, meet together and apportion the poor maintained by the said town of Hamilton, and the poor money belonging to the same, previous to the division thereof, agreeably to the last tax-list : and that each town shall for ever thercafter sup. port its own poor.
