69 Petrus aber saß draußen im Pallaste, und es trat zu ihm eine Magd, und sprach: und du warest auch mit dem Jesu aus Galiläa.

70 Er leugnete aber vor ihnen allen, und sprach: Ich weiß nicht, was du fagft.

71 Als er aber zur Thüre hinaus gieng, sah ihn eine andere, und sprach zu denen, die da waren: Dieser war auch mit dem Jesu von Nazareth.

69 T Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.

70 But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.

71 And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.'

72 And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.

73 And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.

75 Da dachte Petrus an die Worte Jefu, da er zu ihm sagte: Ehe der Hahn krähen wird, wirst du mich drehmal verleugnen. Und gieng hinaus, und weinete bitterlich.

75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

CHAPTER XXVII.

HEN the morning was come,

2 Und banden ihn, führten ihn hin, und überantworteten ihn dem Landpfleger Pontio Pilato.

3 Da das sah Judas, der ihn verrathen hatte, daß er verdammet war zum Tode; gereuete es ihn, und brachte wieder die dreyssig Silberlinge den Hohenpriestern und den Aeltesten,

4 Und sprach: Ich habe übel gethan, daß ich unschuldig Blut verrathen habe.

5 Sie sprachen: Was gehet uns das an? Da siehe du zu. Und er warf

2 And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

3 T Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests, and elders,

4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.

6 Aber die Hohenpriester nahmen die Silberlinge, und sprachen: Es taugt nicht, daß wir sie in den Gotteskaften legen, denn es ist Blutgeld.

7. Sie hielten aber einen Rath, und kauften einen Töpfersacker darum, zum Begräbniß der Pilger.

8 Daher ist derselbige Acker, genannt der Blutacker, bis auf den heutigen Tag.

9 Da ist erfüllet, das gesagt ist durch den Propheten Jeremia, da er spricht: Sie haben genommen dreyffig Silber linge, damit bezahlet ward der Verkaufte, welchen sie kauften von den Kindern Israel.

10 Und haben sie gegeben um einen Töpfersacker, als mir der Herr befohlen | hat.

6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.

7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.

8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.

9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; 10 And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.

12 Und da er verklaget warð vón den Hohenpriestern und Aeltesten, antwortete er nichts.

13 Da sprach Pilatus zu ihm: Hörest du nicht, wie hart sie dich verklagen?

14 Und er antwortete ihm nicht auf Ein Wort, also, daß sich auch der Landpfleger sehr verivunderte.

15 Auf das Fest aber hatte der Landpfleger die Gewohnheit, dem Volfe einen Gefangenen los zu geben, welchen sie wollten.

16 Er hatte aber zu der Zeit einen Gefangenen, einen sonderlichen vor andern, der hieß Barabbas.

17 Und da sie versammelt waren, sprach Pilatus zu ihnen: Welchen wollt ihr, daß ich euch los gebe? Barabbami oder Jefum, von dem gesagt wird, er sey Christus?

18 Denn er wußte wohl, daß sie ihn aus Meid überantwortet hatten.

19 Und da er auf dem Richtstühle faßz, schickte sein Weib zu ihm, und ließ

12 And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.

13 Then saith Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?

14 And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.

15 Now at that feast, the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.

16 And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.

17 Therefore, when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus, which is called Christ?

18 (For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.)

19 T When he was set down on the judgment-seat, his wife

ihm sagen: Habe du nichts zu schaffen mit diesem Gerechten; ich habe heute viel erlitten im Traume von seinetwegen.

20 Aber die Hohenpriester und die Aeltesten überredeten das Volk, daß sie um Barabbam bitten sollten, und Jefum umbrächten.

21 Da antwortete nun der Landpfleger, und sprach zu ihnen: Welchen wollt ihr unter diesen zweyen, den ich euch soll los geben? Sie sprachen: Barabbam.

22 Pilatus sprach zu ihnen: Was soll ich denn_machen mit Jesu, von dem gesagt wird, er sey Christus? Sie sprachen alle: Laß ihn freuzigen. 23 Der Landpfleger sagte: Was hat er denn Uebels gethan? Sie schrien aber noch mehr, und sprachen: Laß ihn freuzigen.

24 Da aber Pilatus sah, daß er nichts schaffte, sondern daß viel ein grösser Getümmel ward, nahm er Wasser, und wusch die Hände vor dem Volke, und sprach: Ich bin unschuldig an dem Blute dieses Gerechten; sehet

ihr zu.

25 Da antwortete das ganze Volk, und sprach: Sein Blut komme über uns und unsere Kinder.

26 Da gab er ihnen Barabbam 108: Aber Jesum ließ er geisseln, und überantwortete ihn, daß er gekreuziget würde.

27 Da nahmen die Kriegsknechte des Landpflegers Jesum zu sich in das Nichthaus, und sammelten über ihn die ganze Schaar;

28 Und zogen ihn aus, und legten ihm einen Purpurmantel an;

29 Und flochten eine Dornenkrone, und setzten sie ihm auf sein Haupt, und ein Rohr in seine rechte Hand, und beugten die Kniee vor ihm, und spotteten ihn und sprachen: Gegrüffeft sehst du, der Juden König.

30 Und speheten ihu an, und nahmen das Rohr, und schlugen damit fein Haupt.

sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream, because of him. 20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.

21 The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.

22 Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus, which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.

23 And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.

24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person see ye to it.

25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

26 Then released he Barabbas unto them and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.

28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.

29 ¶ And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!

30 And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on

the head.

32 Und indem sie hinaus giengen, fanden sie einen Menschen von Cyrene, mit Namen Simon; den zwangen sie, daß er ihm sein Kreuz trug.

33 Und da sie an die Stätte kamen, mit Namen Golgatha, das ist verdeutschet, Schädelstätte,

34 Gaben ste ihm Essig zu trinken mit Galle vermischt; und da er es schmeckte, wollte er nicht trinken.

35 Da sie ihn aber gekreuziget hatten, theilten sie seine Kleider, und war fen das Loos darum; auf daß erfüllet würde, das gesagt ist durch den Propheten: Sie haben meine Kleider unter sich getheilet, und über mein Gewand haben sie das Loos geworfen.

36 Und sie fassen allda, und hüteten seiner.

37 Und oben zu seinem Haupte hefteten sie die Ursache seines Todes beschrieben, nämlich: Dieß ist Jesus, der Juden König.

38 Und da wurden zween Mörder mit ihm gekreuziget, einer zur Rechten, und einer zur Linken.

39 Die aber vorüber giengen, lästerten ihn, und schüttelten ihre Köpfe,

40 Und sprachen: Der du den Tempel Gottes zerbrichst, und baucht ihn in drehen Tagen, hilf dir selber. Bist du Gottes Sohn, so steig herab vom Kreuze.

41 Deßgleichen auch die Hohenpriester spotteten seiner, samt den Schriftgelehrten und Aeltestèn, und sprachen:

42 Andern hat er geholfen, und kann ihm selber nicht helfen. Ist er der König Israels, so steige er nun vom Kreuze, so wollen mir ihm glauben.

43 Er hat Gott vertrauet, der erlöse ihn nun, lüftet es ihn; denn er hat gesagt: Ich bin Gottes Sohn.

44 Deßgleichen schmäheten ihn auch die Mörder, die mit ihm gefreuzigt

ivaren.

45 Und von der sechsten Stunde an ward eine Finsterniß über das ganze Land, bis zu der neunten Stunde.

32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear

his cross.

33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, A place of a skull,

34 They gave him vinegar to drink, mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.

35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet; They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

36 And sitting down, they watched him there:

37 And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

38 Then were there two thieves crucified with him: one on the right hand, and another on the left. 39 And they that passed by, reviled him, wagging their heads, 40 And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

41 Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,

42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.

43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now if he will have him : for he said, I am the Son of God.

44 The thieves also which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.

45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.

46 Und um die neunte Stunde schrie Jesus laut, und sprach: Eli, Eli, Lam ma Afabthani? das ist: Mein Gott, mein Gott, warum hast du mich verlaffen?

47 Etliche aber, die da standen, da sie das höreten, sprachen sie: Der ruft dem Elias.

48 Und bald lief einer unter ihnen, nahm einen Schwamm, und füllete ihn mit Essig, und steckte ihn auf ein Nohr, und tränkte ihn.

49 Die andern aber sprächen: Halt, laß sehen, ob Elias komme, und ihm helfe.

50 Aber Jesus schrie abermal laut, und verschied.

51 Und siehe da, der Vorhang im Tempel zerriß in zwch Stücke, von oben bis unten aus.

52 Und die Erde erbebte, und die Felsen zerrissen, und die Gräber thaten sich auf, und standen auf viele Leiber der Heiligen, die da schliefen,

53 Und giengen aus den Gräbern nach seiner Auferstehung, und kamen in die heilige Stadt, und erschienen Vieten.

54 Aber der Hauptmann und die beh ihm waren, und bewahreten Jesum, da sle sahen das Erdbeben, und was da geschah, erschrafen sie sehr, und sprachen: Wahrlich, dieser ist Gottes Sohn gewesen.

55 Und es waren viele Weiber da, die von ferne zusahen, die da, Jefu waren nachgefolget aus Galiläa, und hatten ihm gedienet.

56 Unter welchen war Maria Magz dalena, und Maria, die Mutter Jakobi und Joses, und die Mutter der Kinder Zebedâi,

57 Am Abend aber kam ein reicher Mann von Arimathia, der hieß Joseph, welcher auch ein Jünger Jesu war.

46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.

48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink..

49 The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.

50 ¶ Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

51 And behold, the vail of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom: and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52 And the graves were opened, and many bodies of the saints which slept, arose,

53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

55 And many women were there (beholding afar off) which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:

56 Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's children.
