The present report, the thirteenth in number, is a continuation of the Selectmen's Records, and is continuous with the Eleventh Report. The entries cover the period from March 20, 1715-16, through September 8, 1736, comprising the third and fourth of the manuscript volumes.

Especial notice is called to the editorial note on page 239. There cannot be two opinions as to the value of these minutes in which all the lesser transactions of the townsmen are recorded. The Commissioners are happy to announce that the City Council has authorized the publication of another volume of these records, as also one of the Town Records, which will be placed in the hands of the printers

at once.

WILLIAM H. WHITMORE,
WILLIAM S. APPLETON,

CITY HALL, BOSTON, June 1, 1885.
