Regular Monthly Meeting, Saturday, January 2, 1897.

Report of Committee on Inspection of Institutions, showing a visit made to Worcester Lunatic Hospital.

Report of Committee on the removal of insane persons out of the State, and action thereon.

Report of Committee on Lunacy; Monthly report of the Inspector of Institutions; recommendations adopted, (1) authorizing the transfer of four children from Taunton Lunatic Hospital to the Hospital Cottages for Children; (2) suggesting to the Trustees of Medfield Insane Asylum the advisability of placing electric lights about the grounds of the Institution; (3) providing for the transfer of 25 women from Danvers Lunatic Hospital to the asylum ward of the State Almshouse.

Report of Committee on Charities: Monthly reports of the Superintendents of In-door and Out-Door Poor; recommendations adopted, involving action on applications for discharge of inmates of the State Farm, and children in the custody of the Board, including three adoptions.

Action on petitions for licenses to maintain boarding-houses for infants.

Resignation of William H. Nichols, 3rd, as temporary visitor in the Department of Out-Door Poor, and the appointment of Albert A. Carlton in his place.

Report of Committee on Lunacy: Monthly report of the Inspector of Institutions; recommendations adopted, (1) providing for the transfer of 40 men and 200 women from the State Lunatic Hospitals to Medfield Insane Asylum; (2) providing for the transfer of a patient from Taunton Lunatic Hospital to Danvers Lunatic Hospital; (3) ordering commitments of insane persons from Suf

folk County to be made to Worcester Lunatic Hospital until farther order.

Report of Committee on Lunacy: Monthly report of the Inspector of Institutions; recommendations adopted, (1) providing

for the transfer of an inmate of Taunton Lunatic Hospital to the Hospital Cottages for Children, and an inmate of the same Hospital to the Massachusetts School for Feeble-Minded; (2) accepting the resignation of Mabel E. Simmons, as visitor in the Inspector's Department.

Recommendation that a license be granted Dr. Eugene W. Hill of Newton, to establish and maintain a private asylum for the insane; the matter having been referred by the Governor to the Board for investigation and report.

Voted, That the Board declines to approve of the payment on State account of bills for the care and treatment of any inmates of the State Lunatic Hospitals that are classed as private patients at the time of their discharge therefrom.

Report of Committee on Lunacy: Monthly report of the Inspector of Institutions; recommendations adopted, providing for the transfer of two inmates of the State Almshouse to Taunton Lunatic Hospital, an inmate of Medfield Insane Asylum to Worcester Lunatic Hospital, and an inmate of the State Farm to the State Almshouse; and also of 200 men and 25 women from the different State Hospitals to Medfield Insane Asylum.
