CHAPTER 31.

An Act to amend Chapter one of the Acts of 1903-04,
entitled, "An Act to amend Chapter 91, Revised
Statutes, 1900, 'Of the Protection of Woods
Against Fire.""

SECTION 1. Clause (g) sub-section 2, of section 11, of chapter 1, Acts 1903-04 repealed, and another substituted.

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

(g) To make on or before the thirty-first of substituted.
December in each year, a full report to the
commissioner of crown lands and the municipal
council of the municipality for which he has
been appointed, setting forth in detail with
dates, the number of days spent by him and
where spent in the performance of his duties,
the nature of the duties performed, the names
and numbers of rangers appointed, the sum paid
to such rangers, with full details of the services
rendered by such rangers, the number and
extent of fires during the year within his muni-
cipality, giving the origin of such fires as far
as may be possible, the number of prosecutions
instituted by him against offenders, and the
results of such prosecutions, and all other neces-
sary information in relation to the discharge
of his duties. Such reports shall be accom-
panied with an itemized account of the receipts
and expenditures of such ranger during the
year, verified by his affidavit.

CHAPTER 32.

An Act to amend Chapter 1, Acts of 1903-04, entitled, An Act to amend Chapter 91, Revised Statutes, 1900, entitled "Of the Protection of Woods against Fires."

SECTION 1. Section 17, chapter 1, Acts 1903-04 amended, added to.

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. Section seventeen of chapter one of the acts of 1903-04 "Of the Protection of Woods against Fire," is amended by adding thereto the following:-Any ranger appointed by the chief ranger under this act may make such examination and grant such leave in writing.

CHAPTER 33.

An Act to amend Chapter 102, Revised Statutes, 1900, "The Public Health Act."

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows :—

1. The following sections are added to chapter 102. Revised Statutes, 1900, "The Public Health Act.

71. (1) It shall be the duty of every physician attending a person suffering from tuberculosis to report to the provincial health officer the particulars of the case.

(2) Such particulars and report shall be in a form to be prescribed by the provincial health officer.

72. (1) The council of every city, town or municipality may by by-law, subject to the approval of the Governor-in-Council, establish and maintain local hospitals or sanatoria for the accommodation and treatment of advanced cases of tuberculosis, and is hereby authorized to borrow on the credit of such city, town or municipality such sums of money from time to time not exceeding ten thousand dollars in the whole, as may be required for the purposes of the establishment and equipment of such a local hospital or sanatorium.

(2) For the purpose of effecting any loan hereby authorized, the council is empowered to make and issue, subject to the provisions of The Municipal Debentures Act, 1902, from time to time, as the council may deem expedient, the debentures of the town or municipality, each in the sum of one hundred dollars, or a multiple thereof, bearing interest at such rate as the council may determine, not exceeding five per centum per annum, and redeemable at a period not exceeding thirty years from the issue thereof.

(3) Such local hospitals or sanatoria shall be subject to such rules and regulations for their management as may be prescribed by the town or municipal council, and approved by the Governor-in-Council.

73. The expenses necessary for the proper care and treatment of persons suffering from tuberculosis, who are receiving aid under the poor laws, shall be a charge on the municipality or town wherein such person has a settlement.

74. The council of every town or municipality shall have power to make by-laws,

(a) For the cleaning, purifying, ventilating and disinfecting of dwellings, station houses, hotels, schools, churches, public buildings and places of assembly by the owners, occupiers, agents, or persons having charge of the same.

(b) For preventing expectoration in public places and the spread of disease thereby.

(c) The location and regulation of slaughter houses, and the manner in which the same shall be conducted. By-laws passed in pursuance of this section shall, when approved by the Governor-in-Council, have the force of law.

75. No person suffering from advanced pulmonary tuberculosis shall knowingly engage personally in the handling of food stuffs, nor shall any employer knowingly employ anyone so suffering, in any business or occupation requiring the handling of food stuffs by such employee.

2: Section sixty-four of said act, as added by section one of chapter 22, acts of 1906, is amended by inserting the words, "every three months" after the word "inspection" in the fifth line of said section.

3. Section fourteen, sub-section two, of said chapter 102, is amended by inserting after the word "council" in the first line of said sub-section the words "together with one duly qualified medical practitioner resident in the town (other than the health officer) to be appointed by the town council

4. Sub-section three of section fourteen of said1 chapter 102 is amended by inserting after the word "districts" in the eighth line thereof, the words "and the duly qualified medical practitioners resident

therein.

5. Section forty-two of said chapter 102, Revised Statutes, 1900, is hereby amended by adding thereto the following sub-section:

(2) It shall be the duty of the sanitary inspector, under the directions of the health officer, to fumigate or otherwise purify every house, building, place, vessel or boat so ordered, in writing to be fumigated or otherwise purified by the local board of each district within the limits for which he is appointed.

CHAPTER 34.

An Act to amend Chapter 104, Revised Statutes, 1900, "Of the Payment for Medical Attendance by Employees of Companies.

-SECTION 1. Section 3 of this Chapter as enacted by Chapter 24, Acts of 1907, amended.

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. Section 3 of chapter 104, Revised Statutes, 1900, Section 3 3 of as enacted by chapter 24 of the acts of 1907, is amend-enacted chapter 24, ed by striking out, in the eleventh line of said section, Acts of 1907. the words "from whose wages the monthly deduction is made" and substituting therefor the words, "who have specified such medical practitioner as their medical attendant under the provisions of this act."

An Act to further amend Chapter 118, Revised Statutes, 1900, "Of the Transfer of Immigrant and Orphan Children. "
