covered by him, against the said president and directors, in the supreme court of this state, together with legal interest thereon, from the second day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty-three, at the rate of six per centum per annum, till paid; and also the sum of forty-four dollars eighty-five and a half cents, which the said Kain recovered for his costs, in the circuit and supreme courts.

Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, That the said president and directors, in case of their inability to pay the said sum of four hundred and forty-five dollars and fifty cents in gold or silver coin, the legal currency of the United States, be authorized and required to pay the same in the notes of the said bank, at their specie value: Provided always, That nothing herein contained shall be construed so as to authorize the said president and directors to interfere with the school fund deposited in said bank.

AN ACT providing for the just Compensation of Electors of President and Vice-President.

APPROVED, December 7, 1824.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the people of the state of Illinois represented in the General Assembly, That the compensation allowed by law to the electors of president and vice-president of the United States, shall be paid out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, with an advance which shall make the same equivalent to specie.

AN ACT to make Compensation to certain Persons for their Services in selecting Seminary Lands.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the people of the state of Illinois represented in the General Assembly, That the auditor of public accounts be, and he is hereby, authorized and required to issue his warrant on

Blakeman, and Robert K. M'Laughlin, for the sum of two hundred dollars each, payable in the paper of the state bank of Illinois, as their compensation, in full, for services rendered, at the request of the governor of this state, in selecting certain lands granted to this state, by the general government, for the use of a seminary of learning.

Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, That the above sums shall be paid out of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.

AN ACT for the Relief of Guy W. Smith.

APPROVED, December 7, 1924.

Whereas, it appears that Guy W. Smith has performed the duty required of him, by an act of the last general assembly, authorizing him to erect a monumental corner, at the point where the division line, between the state of Illinois and Indiana, leaves the Wabash river: And whereas, the compensation, allowed by said act, was not sufficient to defray the actual expenses of said work: There

fore,

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the people of the state of Illinois represented in the General Assembly, That the sum of twenty-five dollars, in notes of the state bank of Illinois, be appropriated to said Guy W. Smith; and that the auditor of public accounts be, and he is hereby, required to issue his warrant upon the treasury for the same.

AN ACT making Appropriation for Rebuilding the State-House.
